The "conscience clause" creates an environment in which counselors can discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community. The 91µÎµÎ Code of Ethics clearly states the steps that should be taken before a client is referred to another counselor. This bill blatantly circumvents that process and opens the door for discrimination.

"As a profession dedicated to diversity and inclusivity, we urged the [legislators] not to pass this...91µÎµÎ remains steadfast in its opposition to this unethical law that enables prejudice," said CEO Richard Yep.
